بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ bismillāhir raḥmānir raḥīm In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

أَلْهَىٰكُمُ ٱلتَّكَاثُرُ alhākumut takāthur Rivalry [and vainglory] distracted you
2
حَتَّىٰ زُرْتُمُ ٱلْمَقَابِرَ ḥattā zurtumul maqābir until you visited [even] the graves.
3
كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ kallā sawfa ta`lamūn No indeed, soon you will know!
4
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ thumma kallā sawfa ta`lamūn No indeed, soon you will know for yet another time!

كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عِلْمَ ٱلْيَقِينِ kallā law ta`lamūna `il-mal yaqīn Indeed, were you to know with certain knowledge,
6
لَتَرَوُنَّ ٱلْجَحِيمَ latarawunnal jaḥīm you would have surely seen hell [in this very life].
7
ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ ٱلْيَقِينِ thumma latarawunnahā `aynal yaqīn Afterward you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
8
ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَنِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ thumma latus-alunna yawma-idhin `anin na`īm Then, on that day, you will surely be questioned concerning the Blessing.
